Genus Xenox

Xenox habrosus

This species has the typical black and hyaline pattern of the genus. There are 3 submarginal cells in the wing, due to an extra complete crossvein. Occasional specimens have one wing with 3 submarginal cells and the other with two. They are lumped here.

Occurs: Late May to Early October

Xenox xylocopae

Locally, a bit more widespread than X. habrosus, this large species also has black and hyaline patterning. It differs by having only 2 submarginal cells due to the incomplete extra crossvein which is akin to a spur vein.

Range: COCH, GRAH, PIMA, PNAL

Occurs: Mid-June to Mid-November
