Genus Ins

Ins celeris

This gaudy, medium-sized species is most often seen at stands of seepwillow shrubs at middle altitudes. The abdomen is white tipped with bright orange pile laterally on T1.  The wings are black and hyaline with about 50% infuscation, including the axillary cell.

Range: COCH, GRAH, PIMA, PNAL, STCR

Occurs: Early June to Late August

Ins curta

Though smaller and less commonly seen than celeris, it is quite similarly marked.  Adults favor Lepidium flowers.  The abdomen is white tipped with a white ring around T1.  The two taxa are definitively separated by curta's lack of infuscation in the axillary cell.

Range: COCH, GRAH, PIMA, STCR

Occurs: Early June to Mid-August
