Genus Dipalta
Dipalta serpentina
This species is typically, but not always, found at higher altitudes. The polka-dot-like wing-spots are round and enlarged with diffuse edges, making confusion with Stonyx and the patterned members of the genus Exoprosopa a possibility. However, note the absence in this species of terminal styles on the antennae, unlike various Exoprosopa. Watch for this species perching either on damp ground (such as stream edges) or on the lowest flowers.
