Genus Diochanthrax
Diochanthrax morulus
Wings of this species have the overall appearance of Neodiplocampta astrella, with a combination of smudged infuscation on the anterior portion of the wing and spotting posteriorly. However, the posterior markings of D. morulus are weaker and more patterned than those of N. astrella. In contrast with N. astrella, previous species descriptions for morulus cite 3 submarginal cells. However the connecting vein between R4 and R2+3 is replaced by a stub vein in the known Arizona specimens, thus yielding only 2 submarginals. Also note that R2+3 joins the longitudinal vein considerably basal to the R-M crossvein, a feature quite peculiar to this genus.
